Heaven is good. Hell is bad. Everyone knows that; it's as clear as black and white.

But what about the shades of grey?

Heaven is order; Hell is chaos. The angelic host upholds the word of God with military precision and ruthless technological advancement. The demonic legion, under the watchful eye of Lucifer, exists in a state of kill or be killed, an eye for an eye. Heaven strives for holiness and perfection; they will accept nothing less on pain of divine wrath and vengeance. Hell accepts all comers exactly as they are; they will also kill, maim, torture, or devour all comers with little provocation. Yet even angels cannot be perfect all of the time; even demons have beating hearts.

And then there are the Nothoi. By the law of God, no angels may love anyone but Him. For some angels, however, the temptation is irresistible. Nothoi are the illegal result of these forbidden unions, often born with genetic mutations and, occasionally, exponential astral power. These abandoned children hide in the slums on the lowest level of Heaven from angelic hunters who would purge them from existence.

Angels want them all exterminated. Demons would kill them just because they can. The only thing the Nothoi want is a safe place to live and love in peace. What's so unreasonable about that?
